چکیده
APPENDIX A: ELEMENTS OF QUEUEING THEORY In a packet radio network, packets/messages are forwarded from node to node through the network by entering a buffer (queue) of a certain length in each node and waiting for their turn to be transmitted to the next node. Also, call access to a network with a given capacity is modeled as a process with certain distribution of call arrival times and certain distribution of call service times. A number of different classes of queueing models are used in this field to analyze queueing delays or server (or network access) blocking probabilities. In order to generalize the presentation the elements in the queue (packets, messages, calls, etc.) will be referred to as customers. The problems nowadays become even more challenging in wireless cellular networks with handoffs, multimedia traffic and differentiated QoS. The key element in this analysis is a proper model for these distributions. The very first results in this field are based on the most common stochastic queueing models which assume that message (call) interarrival and service times obey the exponential distribution or, equivalently, that the arrival rate and service rate follow a Poisson distribution. In other words, if the arrival rate is λ , the probability of having n arrivals in an interval t is given as

Hotel Location Problem Using Erlang Queuing Model under Uncertainty (RESEARCH NOTE)
Determining and selecting an appropriate location to construct a hotel is one of the most challenging concerns which hotel industry investors are facing with. In this study we attempt to find a suitable response to this research/application need by a mathematical model using the queueing theory and the fuzzy logic. Therefore hotel, the reception system and travelers accommodations are formulate...
متن کاملFuzzy Hierarchical Location-Allocation Models for Congested Systems
There exist various service systems that have hierarchical structure. In hierarchical service networks, facilities at different levels provide different types of services. For example, in health care systems, general centers provide low-level services such as primary health care services, while the specialized hospitals provide high-level services. Because of demand congestion in service networ...
متن کاملAn Integrated Queuing Model for Site Selection and Inventory Storage Planning of a Distribution Center with Customer Loss Consideration
Discrete facility location, Distribution center, Logistics, Inventory policy, Queueing theory, Markov processes, The distribution center location problem is a crucial question for logistics decision makers. The optimization of these decisions needs careful attention to the fixed facility costs, inventory costs, transportation costs and customer responsiveness. In this paper we stu...
متن کاملA Mathematical Method for Managing the System Constraint
The goal of theory of constraints (TOC) is to maximize output, which is achieved byidentifying and managing the critically constrained resources. To manage the constraints, Goldrattproposed five focusing steps (5FS). If we increase constrained output, the output of system will beincreased. In this paper, we focus on step four of the 5FS and use the remained capacity of nonconstraintto elevate t...
